Thinking Ahead

thinkingahead_1.jpgthinkingahead_2.jpgthinkingahead_3.jpg

1. "Condoleeza's intelligence, compassion, determination and sheer brilliance, combined with her knowledge of and experience with world affairs, would make Dr. Rice one of the best Presidents of all time."

2. "It would appear that over the last 12 years the policies Mr. Giuliani put in place have spared New York perhaps 10,000 murders, 15,000 rapes and 800,000 robberies. This is clearly a humanitarian accomplishment of great magnitude."

3. “Anyone who does talk about 2008, (Mitt Romney's) name always comes up. He is getting noticed by the national party. They are paying close attention to him. He has done a great job as a Republican Governor in a Democratic state.”

4. "Some Republicans see Allen as an appealing, folksy politician with the experience and political skills to mount an effective nationwide campaign."

5. "The Republicans have a proven, viable brand, a Coke to the Democrats's Corvair, and McCain displays it with charming, flip flopping, corporation-lambasting inconsistency, in much the half-earnest way a tousled record store clerk sports a pair of Nike Vandals."

6. "As a conservative in a blue state, and a Governor to boot, (Tim) Pawlenty has what some consider ideal credentials for a presidential candidate."

7. "The crowd at Miami Dade County’s Park roared with cheers . . . when someone held up a campaign sign behind (Jeb) Bush that stated, “Jeb Bush for President in 2008.”

8. "When other states were fighting their fiscal crises by raising taxes, (Bill) Owens recognized the real problem, asking "How can tax hikes solve the fiscal crisis in the states when the budget problems are a result of chronic overspending?" Not only did he cut spending, but he also pushed the legislature to pass the largest tax cuts in Colorado's history."

9. "Mark Sanford doesn't have the name recognition of a Powell, Rice, or Clinton, but . . . he's relatively young, his conservative politics fit in well with the national mood at the moment, and there is a precedent for Southern governors winning nationally."

10. "Mike Huckabee, a compassionate conservative, says the challenge is to allow states the flexibility they need to stem (Medicaid's) exploding costs without cutting off vital medical care for millions of Americans."

I'd have to say that of all those people, I'd vote for Condi every day of the week and twice on Sunday, I'd probably vote for Guiliani or Jeb Bush, a definate no to McCain, but the others I'd have to study. If the current political landscape is any indication of '08 (which it's probably not), then it is sure going to be an interesting election!

Yes, but through all this talk of top ten contenders in '08 there's one name that we've all been thinking but none have had the guts to say...

...all right then--I'll say it:

HOMOCON FOR PRESIDENT - ELECTION 2008

Homocon sez;
One more crrrrrazy outburst like that and I'm going to revoke your posting privileges, mister (though it would, however, make a snazzy bumper sticker).

Great site!

As much as I agree with you on many issues, this Russell Kirk "paleo-Conservative" cannot support President Bush and his neo-con agenda, which is ressurrected Woodrow Wilson internationalism.

Yes, I agree that the Democrat Party and the liberals are talking out of both sides of their mouth on Bush2's invasion of Iraq. Yes, I agree it would be disasterous for a flip-flopper like John Kerry to run our foreign policy. But these neo-cons are not conservatives, they are Scoop Jackson Democrats, or former Trotskyist intellectuals, who abandoned the Democrats and joined the Republican Party with a very specific agenda.

I don't see any conservative principles in Condie Rice, and between her and Hillary, I can't imagine a more disasterous line-up for '08.
