Intelligence Report

The DNC talking-points consistently played up President Bush's C-average and supposed intellectual incapacities during the entire run-up to the 2004 Presidential election, but it turns out that Kerry was no better a scholar, or any more of an intellectual, than Bush, with Kerry receiving four D's to Bush's one, and Bush coming out with an overall higher GPA (by one point) during their respective stints at Yale.

"I always told my dad that D stood for distinction," Kerry said in a written response to reporters' questions. And as to why we're only just hearing about this now? "Kerry previously declined to release the transcript, which was included in his Navy records. He gave the Navy permission to release the documents (only) last month."

I'd have kept it a secret, too.

Regarding the recent court ruling involving the Washington State gubernatorial election, my favorite quotes from from the last few days were when Judge Bridges chastised the King County Elections Commission with, “Almost anyone who works in state or local government knows exactly what this culture is . . . It’s inertia, selfishness. It’s taking our paychecks, but not doing the work. It’s not caring about either our fellow workers or the public we are supposed to serve. It’s not taking responsibility. It’s refusing to be held accountable,” and when Dino Rossi took his own swipe at the election commission with, "I do agree with the judge that nobody's been fired and nothing has changed. Moving everybody to a new building isn't election reform," cleverly mocking the recent proposal to relocate King County's elections operations into a new and more spacious digs, essentially rewarding the elections office for doing a less than competent job overseeing the last election.

Meanwhile, Gregoire has wasted no time in presenting the Washington electorate with only just the first of what will undoubtedly transmogrify into an extensive laundry list of wasteful and dubious schemes: outsourcing aspects of public education to Mexico, which ranks last among major nations in educational achievement.

Lord, help us.

Is it any wonder that, less than a year into her stint as governor, she already ranks near the bottom of the list of approval ratings for all 50 U.S. governors?

ADDENDUM:
Words of wisdom. I especially like #9.

This was one of the biggest DNC talking points before the election --wonder if they'll follow up with this part of the story...
