Gann-on and on
At what point does it become evident that a "scandal" is not a scandal, that the racehorse has given up the ghost and the people attempting to still whip it towards some kind of finish line simply need to climb off the cold, dead beast and move on?
Poor Jeff Gannon James Guckert whatever his name is -- it's bizarre to me that we have a press that screams holy hell about their precious free speech until somebody in the right place at the right time asks questions they don't like.
Gannon had the nerve to raise an issue that a lot of Americans (including me) are genuinely concerned about -- how can the President work with Democratic leaders in Congress "who seem to have divorced themselves from reality"? From the ensuing shrieks and howls of liberal outrage, you'd have thought that someone had just thrown a barrel of holy water on the entire White House press corps.
It was because of this that the libs went after him with such ferocity. The issue is not that he wrote under a pseudonym (as it's been explained ad nauseam that numerous current journalists and media figures work under assumed names, such as Larry King, Mike Wallace and Jon Stewart), and the issue is not that he may or may not be gay, as "the gays" are one of the left's favorite lapdogs (as long as they have the good sense to discreetly hide themselves from view at any national-level political conventions and vote an, uhm, straight Democratic ticket) -- no, the issue is that this "may-or-may-not-be-gay" man (who, by the unwritten rules of the lib playbook, should automatically be on their side! *gasp* -- the traitor!) out and out stated, in front of a roomful of loony lefties armed with cameras, microphones, pens and paper, that the real reason that so many Democratic leaders in Congress are purposely obstructive in their dealings with the present elected administration is because they're "divorced from reality".
I mean, c'mon -- Barbara Boxer? Diane Feinstein? Robert Byrd? Cynthia McKinney? Nancy Pelosi? Maxine Waters? Ted Kennedy? I think the man had a point . . .

I think you are obviously failing to see the point. He was working for a fake news organization, which didn't even exist when he started attending the briefings, and he also had zero journalistic experience. Most of his writings were plagiarized, or were merely direct transcripts of the White House press briefings. Put this together with the fact that the Bush administration has been paying journalists to write favorable reviews of their policies, without disclosing to their readers that they have been paid by the government, and it's not hard to tell that this administration is using unprecedented methods to dissiminate propoganda. Not to mention the security risks in this post 9/11 world...

No. It was possibly because this inept "journalist" attributed a quote to Harry Reid that didn't exist. This error happened because he's not a journalist at all, but a semi-literate prostitute that somehow landed a job in the Whitehouse with zero experience, and outright plagiarized his work. What part about that is so difficult to understand?

What part of this don't you understand? Oh, right, the whole thing. You are a moron. Jeff Gannon had no training or credentials as a journalist. He plagiarized White House press releases. He was so pathetically and obviously unqualified that he couldn't get a regular pass and had to use a "day pass" (what part of that don't you understand?) for two years. Let's see, what else? Oh yeah, he was a fucking criminal. Or did you not realize that prostitution is illegal?
So why don't you stop your embarrassing and ignorant rant; you have absolutely no ground to stand on in this case. The guy is a whore. Maybe you know that firsthand, though--perhaps you've enjoyed his services as a power top. That would explain a lot.

what's most hilarious about guckert is that he's kind of dim-witted.

This is most definitely a scandal. If a gay escort (or a non-gay escort, for that matter) had the kind of access Gannon/Guckert had to the White House during the Clinton administration, the Republicans would have been all over it and impeachment hearings would already be taking place.
Something is very fishy. Why was he there on days when there were no press conferences? How did he sign in but not sign out -- and vice versa? Who is the sugar daddy who enabled him to get access? We've barely scratched the surface of this scandal, and I for one can't wait for it to explode.

Great article...you are right on, and I support Jeff. I find it interesting that because he did not automatically fall in line, in cultic submission, to the loony libs in Congress, he is vilified by all the so-called liberty-loving, free speech-loving, diversity-loving liberals. They believe in diversity only if you agree with everything they say.
Professor Pan confirms your point by saying that the Republicans would have had a fit had Jeff been a liberal in the Clinton press room and there would be an impeachment. You can't impeach the president over that, first of all. Secondly, one could infer from Professor's reply that he and the leftists would be going after Jeff in that case, because they have to make sure they don't allow the Republicans to score a point. It's so childish. It's all about making sure you score points against the Republicans and embarrassing Jeff Gannon as much as possible. The leftists say they support freedom, but they try to personally destroy those who don't agree with them. Jeff is my hero.

Guckert left his job as office manager of an auto body shop in West Chester, PA in late 2001 and vanished for a year---no address records or on-the-book-jobs--until he showed up in the White House Press Corps under the name Jeff Gannon. He had no journalism experience and the only constant from his previous life were his military-themed gay escort websites. So how the hell did he get into the White House 700 times?
If there's another explanation besides one of the closeted GOP queers he banged for $200/hr being high up in the White House pulling strings I'd love to hear it. Instead, Talon News scrubbed any mention of the Gannon name and then ultimately shut down, the gay prostitution sites were shut down as the story broke, the House GOP won't let a call for investigation come to a vote, and right-wing sites that include him are being scrubbed or deleted as soon as they are discovered. Guckert isn't back in the White House Press Corps. I myself have emailed Sean Hannity (3 times), Tom Delay, Rush Limbaugh, my own Senator Rick Santorum (3 times), the RNC, and President Bush himself asking for another explanation. None of them have replied.

This posting is hilarious. If the scandal involved the Clinton Administration, this would be front page news on every major newspaper and the lead story on every network news show for days or weeks. Let's review what happened.
- A partisan propagandist posed as a reporter and got press passes from the White House.
- There was no background check of Gannon, a serious security breach.
- Gannon was involved with prostitution web sites.
- Gannon asked softball questions at White House press conferences, some of which contained laughable factual errors.
- Gannon received preferential treatment over real reporters.
- Gannon was given the ID of a CIA agent whose husband offended the White House.
- Gannon attacked Kerry for supporting LGBT rights.

It's weird how short memoried the Right is. Remember when Rumsfeld was asked by an American fighting man in Iraq about the lack of armor? The Right went ballistic because they found that the question had been suggested to the soldier by a reporter. I guess they think that a fighting man is not smart enough to ask a question that "a lot of Americans (including me) are genuinely concerned about"(Homocon's words). The Right just skipped the middleman and sent Gannon the Whore in to do their work. By the way, doesn't it bother anyone that a person with false credentials, an alias and a gay dating website can get within feet of the President of the United States?
