Bullsh*t!
I just ordered the second season of Penn & Teller's 'Bullsh*t!' on DVD. If you haven't had the pleasure of catching their series on Showtime, it's a hilarious, episodic expose on nearly every conceivable capitalistic "scam" known to present-day mankind.
Touching on the business sides of death, sex, religion, psychics, cryogenics and more, the two Vegas magicians use their trademark acerbic humor to skewer the gullibility of us all. They said they never received more death threats than when they did their expose' on recycling . . .
Penn Jillette also appears as one of the insightful talking heads in the recent release of "Michael Moore Hates America", which I also highly recommend. What I thought was going to be an over-the-top screech-fest against Moore turned out to be a thoughtful and entertaining examination of contemporary political discourse and the easy manipulations of the documentary form.
I'm also looking forward to catching one of Penn & Teller's live shows in Vegas. I never thought I'd hear myself say that, but their 'Bullsh*t!' series is so smart and entertaining that it's given me a whole new appreciation for their performance style.
