The Other Jackson

theotherjacksona.jpgtheotherjacksonb.jpgtheotherjacksonc.jpg

Jesse Jackson today has issued a press release regarding Michael Jackson's upcoming . . . oh, *yawn* -- who cares what Jesse Jackson says anymore? We have black Senators, Representatives, Millionaire Entertainers, News Commentators, Supreme Court Justices, Fashion Designers, NASA Scientists, Miss America's, Political Analysts, CEO's, Presidential Cabinet Members (not to mention two black Secretary of State's in a row) and somehow black people are still victim's of America's oppressive, whitey heart?

Piffle. "Racial Tension" between blacks and whites is an issue in America only if you make your living fueling fears of it.

Jesse Jackson has become increasingly irrelevant to any rational discourse taking place in the 21st century, and this latest "We're Still Being Oppressed -- Really!" press release is just another nail in the Rainbow Coalition's coffin. Michael Jackson's trial has nothing to do with race, and everything to do with the fact that he's one of the most famous entertainers in the world with strange behaviors that are ripe for financial and media exploitation.

But you can read Jesse Jackson's desperate attempt to get his name in the news statement here.

Lip Service

indeeda.jpgindeedb.jpgindeedc.jpg

"As for European intellectuals, who command so much power in the media, universities and opinion-forming circles, they have done everything they possibly could to abuse America's initiative in Iraq and to prevent the installation of freedom. Some make it clear that they would much prefer Iraq to be run by men like Saddam than by American-backed democrats. Of course, intellectuals pay lip service to free elections but in practice have a profound (if secret) hatred of democracy. They cannot believe that their votes should count for no more than the votes of "uneducated" people who run small businesses, work on farms and in factories and have never read Proust."

Read the full article here (thanks to Jeff at Beautiful Atrocities).

UPDATE:
"These pompous fat little Republican kings, who control all three branches of government, still play the “victim card” as they always do when they feel threatened."

Read the article here, where the author then hilariously bemoans that "the Democrats [are] being blamed for feeding the atmosphere of bitter divisiveness that grips the inner sanctums of the Capitol," while demeaning Condoleeza Rice as "the original Miss Mushroom Cloud," sneering at "the Bush administration’s practice of rewarding incompetence" (while of course providing no examples), rambling wildly regarding unspecific "questionable procedures used by state officials and private companies . . . poisoning the electoral process to the point where it is no longer above suspicion," and concluding with the laughable line that "the left is blessed to have leadership as distinguished and passionate and honorable as Howard Dean, Barbara Boxer, Nancy Pelosi, Dennis Kucinich and Peter Stark."

It's a priceless piece of political-left paranoia and fantasy.

Here She Comes

missamericaa.jpgmissamericab.jpgmissamericac.jpg

Ok, did you all see the new Miss America? Now that's what I call a Secretary of State!

Of course, there are always differing opinions (though why anyone would give a flying frack about what Robert Mugabe deems proper "black" behavior is beyond me -- perhaps Condi hasn't murdered enough of her opponnents to qualify for the Mugabe Black Power award).

UPDATE:
It appears that Ward Churchill is a fraud in more ways than one. Is there any lie this man won't tell (and have liberals subsequently make excuses for)?

UPDATE:
I find it very odd when people in the media publicly denounce President Bush while complaining that people in the media are running scared of publicly denouncing President Bush, the most famous example being Tim Robbins standing in front of The National Press Club and emoting hysterically about "people all over the country fear(ing) reprisal if they use their right to free speech."

Wow, Timmy boy must've really paid the price for that defiant act of bravery and courage. The little wifey might have to sneak a hacksaw into the prison where he's . . . oh, wait, he's not in prison at all, or detained, or questioned, and he's making just as much per movie as he ever did (if not more). And wasn't he just nominated last year for an award for 'Mystic River' . . . ?

I have never heard a media, and media people, so roundly and categorically criticize, lambaste and lampoon a sitting president while continuously invoking the spectre of some demon-like McCarthy figure just waiting in the shadows to purportedly destroy their careers and livelihood.

Bush vs. Ritter

bushvsrittera.jpgbushvsritterb.jpgbushvsrittercb.jpg

Check out this blog op-ed at Blogcritics.org, titled "Who do YOU believe, Scott Ritter or George Bush?", which, typically, paints George Bush as a liar and is posted by some leftie who charmingly calls himself 'Big Time Patriot' while blithely dismissing any American intervention in the Middle East as anything but some Machiavellian plot for world domination.

The comments afterward dissolve into the usual juvenile name calling.

Topic 2:
A friend of mine was on her way into the office today and called in to a radio show that was discussing this. Hers was one of the first calls aired, and she stated, "Let's not even waste a bullet on these people -- let's just drop them in a pit and chop up their lawyers as chicken feed for when they get hungry." When the Talk-Radio host criticized her as being "a little harsh", she replied, "These people repeatedly raped their 7 month old infant, nearly to death. Not even animals behave like this to their young."

She told me she listened in amazement the rest of the ride to work as calls poured into the show to both praise and demonize her for her comments (She is, BTW, the mother of one young child with another on the way . . .).

Doctors who attended the infant mentioned in the linked article (and the subject of the Radio Show) stated, "We've never seen those types of injuries in a baby that was (still) alive."

Bullsh*t!

bullshta.jpgbullshtb.jpgbullshtc.jpg

I just ordered the second season of Penn & Teller's 'Bullsh*t!' on DVD. If you haven't had the pleasure of catching their series on Showtime, it's a hilarious, episodic expose on nearly every conceivable capitalistic "scam" known to present-day mankind.

Touching on the business sides of death, sex, religion, psychics, cryogenics and more, the two Vegas magicians use their trademark acerbic humor to skewer the gullibility of us all. They said they never received more death threats than when they did their expose' on recycling . . .

Penn Jillette also appears as one of the insightful talking heads in the recent release of "Michael Moore Hates America", which I also highly recommend. What I thought was going to be an over-the-top screech-fest against Moore turned out to be a thoughtful and entertaining examination of contemporary political discourse and the easy manipulations of the documentary form.

I'm also looking forward to catching one of Penn & Teller's live shows in Vegas. I never thought I'd hear myself say that, but their 'Bullsh*t!' series is so smart and entertaining that it's given me a whole new appreciation for their performance style.

The New Michael Crichton

crichtona.jpgcrichtonb.jpgcrichtonc.jpg

I'm presently reading (well, "listening to on Audio CD" -- the modern version of "reading") Michael Crichton's new novel, 'State of Fear'. I've never been a Michael Crichton fan, and generally avoid fiction altogether any longer, having had enough of examining the inside of a liberal's mind while studying for my B.A. in English. But the idea of Michael Crichton, Mr. Hollywood-friendly novelist, writing a novel that criticizes the hysteria behind Hollywood's favorite religious causes (environmentalism and global warming) was an entertainment package I couldn't resist.

So now, as I'm huffing away on the elliptical at the gym, I listen to 'State of Fear', and its portrayal of environmentalists and their celebrity patsies is hilarious, while also underscoring the significant battle being waged between the self-righteousness of the greenies vs. those researchers who put their faith in the facts instead of their feelings.

Crichton has a reputation for including a wealth of meticulously researched and well-documented information into his fictional settings. 'State of Fear' is no exception. I'm only about half-way through the Audio Book as of this posting (it's all downloaded on my iPod Mini for easy portability), but I highly recommend the experience. For those who are following the climate-change debate, it makes for especially interesting reading.

It is, of course, getting predictably overwrought reviews from the left.

Oil Industry: 1 - Greenpeace: 0

greenpeacea.jpggreenpeaceb.jpggreenpeacec.jpg

I just watched Brit Hume give a news report on a Greenpeace protest gone awry. I had to rewind the report (TiVo, love it, can't live without it) to make sure that I heard it correctly.

Apparently, a group of protesters slipped into the International Petroleum Exchange with the intent of creating so much noise and disruption with blaring horns and blasting whistles that all trading would cease between 2 and 7:30 P.M. -- but the floor traders were having none of it. The Greenpeace protesters were cornered, had file cabinets turned over on them and were struck with numerous blows. At least one of them was injured and taken to the hospital.

An IPE spokesperson said that all trading had resumed by 3:15 P.M.

Greenpeace said they were demonstrating because although Kyoto was a good first step, it did not go far enough to combat climate change.

There weren't any further details forthcoming as to what measures might go "far enough" for Greenpeace.

Beautiful Atrocities Vs. MSM

bamsma.jpgbamsmb.jpgbamsmc.jpg

Take note of this terrific info-post over at Beautiful Atrocities.

I find it completely mystifying that anyone would stoop to calling such a necessary reconstruction and reformation effort "a mistake" . . .

Too bad Barbara Boxer and her attention-starved politco pals (see Jimmy Carter, Ted Kennedy, Michael Moore and Tom Daschle) can't see the forest for the trees.

Tony Snow

tonysnowa.giftonysnowb.jpgtonysnowc.jpg

Tony Snow has announced that he will be undergoing Colon Cancer surgery next week, an admission only necessary in that there would most likely be public speculation over his place in the Fox News pecking order if he were to suddenly disappear for a few weeks due to "private matters" (especially as, thanks to Hollywood, "private matters" has come to be the euphemism of choice for "drug rehab", "nervous breakdown" and "chronic alcoholism").

Tony is one of my favorite news commentator/reporter/analysts (neck and neck with Brit Hume for Homocon's "Sexiest News Flasher" Award), and he will be sorely missed while he's out for repairs.

Before joining FOX News, Tony Snow was a nationally syndicated columnist with The Detroit News, a columnist for USA Today and an editorial writer at The Virginian-Pilot. He was also editorial page editor of The Daily Press in Newport News, VA, deputy editorial page editor of The Detroit News, and editorial page editor of The Washington Times.

When you type "I love Tony Snow" into Google, you get this. And when you type "Tony Snow is a hunk of burning love" into Google, you get this.

"It's Deja-Vu All Over Again"

ritterwatcha.jpgritterwatchb.jpgritterwatchc.jpg

Guess who's now an op-ed columnist for Al-Frickin-Jazeera (AFJ)? Why, it's our pal, Scott Ritter!

Apparently unable to obtain gainful employment in the U.S. after being outed as Saddam Hussein's private little nuclear lapdog, Mr. Ritter turns once again to the sweet succor of the terrorist's embrace (and paycheck).

Tossing out lovely little anti-American bon-mots to an appreciative audience (the same type of audience that cheered CNN's Eason Jordan as he casually smeared the entire U.S. military with terrorist apologetics), Our Pal Ritter (OPR) writes "History will eventually depict as legitimate the efforts of the Iraqi resistance to destabilize and defeat the American occupation forces and their imposed Iraqi collaborationist government" and "History will condemn the immorality of the American occupation, which has debased the values and ideals of the American people by legitimizing torture, rape and murder as a means of furthering an illegal war of aggression," and so on.

OPR manages to defecate upon the entire U.S. effort to defuse the ticking timebomb that's the Middle East while cheerily proclaiming that "It is hard as an American to support the failure of American military operations in Iraq."

Yeah, right, Scott. I'm sure it just kills you.

Read OPR's entire column here (if you can stomach it).
